Paul, you do realize that the section stating that Scoble is “smoke and mirrors” was a quote from someone else’s blog post, right? My post is about his reply underlining his own god complex. Unless you’re here to defend his over inflated ego, then you’re actually commenting on the wrong blog.

This post has nothing to do with any of his achievements, whatever they may or may not be, merely his self-elevation of celestial status.

That tweet may have been mine. I don’t think this article is that heavy-handed. It’s really more of a joke than a serious criticism. If Robert read this post, he probably enjoyed it….He’s enjoys Feldman’s bits to the point of eternal ecstasy.

I would hope that any member of this Silicon Valley elite would treat “normal” people with respect since 1.) they’re quasi-celebrities anyway and 2.) it wouldn’t be in their best interest to piss off their core audience.

I came across this post via a tweet today. While Scoble doesn’t need me or anyone else to come to his defense, the idea that his notoriety is “smoke and mirrors” is unfounded. He is one of the hardest working guys I know in this business and has pioneered social media adoption long before most of us knew what the term meant.

I recall seeing him do a keynote back in 2005 at the first Blog Business Summit in Seattle and I knew then, this was a guy that was a true believe, a sincere evangelist.

Not only that, he’s one of the nicest guys around. I’m certainly not a member of the Silicon Valley elite not a digerati and Robert has always treated me with respect in any interaction I’ve had with him either in-person or online.

It’s easy to poke fun at celebrities. Sometimes, it’s well deserved. In this case, I think not.
